Back when I worked in the retail game, I did a lot of driving. That was alright, though, because I had a debit card for all my gas purchases. They even let you log unlimited personal miles. I took full advantage of this while I could, going to baseball games in Tampa and making week long trips across the United States on the company’s dime. Now, I understand what everyone was complaining about when it comes to gas prices. I can hardly afford to go anywhere anymore now that I have lost the company car and gas card. I guess it was the biggest and only perk from my last job.

I think that toys get progressively worse as the years go on. When I was a kid, all you needed to keep yourself entertained was a paddle ball and a stick. When I got toys for my now adult son, I thought they were crazy! Crash Test Dummies, Dolls with hundreds of moving parts… Now, I see commercials for the most interactive stuff I’ve ever seen. The only thing realer is… real.

When I first lost my retail job with the cookie company, I didn’t realize I was going to end up going back to school. I was instead looking for a job. I was listening to the radio one evening and they mentioned jobs at the airport screening baggage. I thought this would be an excellent option for me, with my police background and all. The best part is, they even provide the port authority clothing. Unfortunately, they never called me back.

Boston won a World Series. Yippie, I am just jumping for joy they were able to buy this championship, with uber-dork owner John Henry at the helm. That’s the thing, I lost a hundred dollars on a bet against the Red Sox, and of course they have to pull it out. Next year they will face stiff competition. Boston as a whole is elated, though. Boston College and the Patriots are both undefeated. It’s a lucky time to be a wimply little New Englander right now.

I guess you could say I was a no show at the bowling alley last night. Everyone has looked forward to my presence there since opening week. I guess I just had something else to do, like watch TV or lay on my couch. I just wish people would understand the stresses of a busy schedule. I simply don’t have time to go to the bowling alley every week to talk to people. There are more pressing issues in the life of Ken Brock.
