My friend Jerry fixes cars for a living. Then, by night, he is a big drinker and partier. Anyway, he finally opened up his own shop and needed a way to get the word out about his services. He always charges reasonable rates for his work, so it shouldn’t take too much for his business to take off. His first step in the marketing game was buying a bunch of personalized pens to give away so everyone would know who to call.

I was talking to my nephew Jamie the other day while at the dog track. I told him that back in its heyday, the place used to attract thousands of people. Things aren’t so rosy these days thanks to simulcast betting, where people tend to bet on horses. I once went to a horse race, but there are two factors that prevent this: one, there is a guy on the horse influencing him and they try to sell me horse riding apparel.

Back when I had a prepaid phone, I didn’t want to bother paying another $50 dollars for a new phone when the one I had contained all the numbers in my rolodex. I found out later that there was nothing really wrong with my phone, just the cordless phone battery had died in it. Once it was replaced, it came right back on and my information was safe.

It seems as if I have been worrying about loans since I can remember. My first series of loans came when I was trying to purchase my first home. I made my payments as scheduled and had good credit as a result. Everything was just fine until I got divorced. My ex-wife took the home and neglected the payments, leaving me with a poor credit history that I am still repairing. That is why nowadays I have to look for a cheap personal loan to help out with expenses. I have also found that secured loans can be a viable option, as well.

My nephew Jamie and I went to the local Indian casino the other day, and he was looking to play a machine without the bingo card at the top corner. I explained to him that that’s the way they get around the law in Florida. I wish political people would stop pandering by keeping gambling illegal. They will always find ways around it, like by using bingo or having good games on cruises. I think they just want people scratching the dollar tickets for school funds.
